When sign-ups opened for Crespi's Fall Blood Drive on September 9, the numbers looked modest — just 29 spots filled between the Crespi family and the surrounding community, short of the drive's goal of 35 units.

But on drive day, the Crespi community showed up. By the time the last donor rolled up their sleeve, Campus Ministry had collected 36 units of blood — one donor equals one unit — beating the goal by one.

"I truly appreciate the flexibility on these Blood Drive days," said Chris Knabenshue, Director of Campus Ministry. "I know they can be hectic, but we are literally saving lives."

Blood drives ask a lot of a school community — coordinated scheduling, willing donors, and teachers' patience as students step out of class for a few minutes to give. Crespi's faculty, staff, students, and neighbors met that ask, turning a slow start into a life-saving success.

Every unit donated has the potential to save up to three lives. Thank you to everyone — students, parents, faculty, and community members alike — who rolled up a sleeve or helped run the drive.
