The Crespi Taiko program teaches Crespi students the Japanese art of taiko drumming. Since its creation in 2007, Crespi Taiko has grown to offer up to three levels of instruction that give students both PE and Fine Arts credit. Crespi Taiko Students learn the history of taiko in Japan, and how it serves to empower the Japanese-American community today. Currently under the direction of Blaine O’Brien, Crespi Taiko students are held to a high bar of being both compelling taiko performers, and knowledgeable custodians of the art form’s cultural importance.
