Job Summary
The Head Lacrosse Coach will work under the supervision of the Director of Athletics in accordance with Crespi Carmelite High School’s mission statement. The position objective is individual character and adult staff development. The Head Lacrosse Coach must realize and appreciate the need for the lacrosse program to work with other sports as a complement to the entire athletic department and overall school community.Primary Purpose
The Head Lacrosse Coach will provide instruction and coach students to develop skills and the ability to excel in lacrosse. The Head Lacrosse Coach will also contribute to the school’s education program as a whole and to the growth of students involved in athletics so that they are successfully competitive.Requirements: QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certification:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field

Experience:
- A minimum of three years of experience as a head varsity lacrosse coach is preferred

Knowledge:
- Must have experience or a desire to work in a Catholic school
- Comprehensive knowledge of the game is paramount including an extensive knowledge of current coaching techniques and procedures
- Knowledge of CIF rules and regulations
- Demonstrated ability to instruct and supervise student-athletes
- Utilization of technology is required

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
- Use a variety of instructional techniques and media to meet the needs and improve the abilities of student-athletes in lacrosse
- Manage and supervise athletic activities, contests, and practice sessions to promote individual growth in athletic skills, teamwork, discipline, respect, and good sportsmanship
- Work with other members of the Crespi Carmelite community to plan and put in place instructional goals and objectives to ensure the overall educational development of student-athletes
- Ensures that all lacrosse coaches work together toward a common goal within the lacrosse program and provide unity with a structured lower-level system
- Establish performance criteria for competition and evaluate students’ athletic abilities initially and on a regular basis
- Take all necessary precautions to protect student-athletes, equipment, materials, and facilities
- Enforce student eligibility criteria for extracurricular participation
- Work with the Director of Athletics to schedule competitions and coordinate arrangements
- Develop and coordinate a continuing evaluation of coaching program and make changes based on findings and the ongoing needs of the program
- Accompany and supervise student-athletes during athletic competitions
- Instruct and advise students on NCAA regulations with regard to academic requirements for scholarships and recruiting practices
- Maintains, files, and copies all pertinent CIF materials and ensures that CIF guidelines are followed
- Apply and enforce student discipline during athletic contests, practice sessions, and while on trips off school property in accordance with Crespi Carmelite High School’s Parent/Student Handbook
- Annually prepare an itemized operational budget for the lacrosse program to be submitted to the Director of Finance
- Encourage sportsmanlike conduct in all phases of athletic participation at all times
- Establish and maintain open communication by conducting regular conferences with student-athletes, parents, and the Director of Athletics and, when necessary, with other members of the Crespi Carmelite community, including but not limited to, the faculty, Principal, and President
- Maintain a current inventory of all fixed assets within the lacrosse program
- Annually establish and meet performance goals
- Understands and can articulate role in admissions, development and advancement
- The President or his/her designee may assign other duties, including teaching responsibilities, and accountabilities limited to those consistent with the applicable job function and pay grade.
