17th Annual Christmas at Crespi brings in the Holiday Cheer!
By: Chris Knabenshue
This past Saturday, December 1st, Crespi held its annual Christmas at Crespi event. Families in need from the East Valley arrived at Crespi to be greeted by a wonderful showing of Celt elves! They had fun on a variety of inflatable rides and even got to practice their skills with our Soccer elves! A pizza lunch and a multitude of baked cookies (donated by many Crespi families) awaited them in the Commons.
The kids’ excitement peaked shortly after lunch with the arrival of Santa Claus! After greeting each family, he gave each of the children a couple gifts to enjoy right away, while the real surprise would come later: under the bus, Santa’s elves put bags of toys for the families so that they could have their own family Christmas on Christmas day! As if this wasn’t enough, the families were surprised with an assortment of large raffle baskets – each family was able to go home with one of them! The kids left Crespi with smiles, joy, and a sense of hope – feelings that for some come rarely. We can’t thank the Crespi Carmelite Community enough for all your toys, cookies, and time you gave to this event. Because of your generosity, we were also able to donate toys to LA Fire Department, Families of the Incarcerated, Children’s Hospital, The Village Family Services, Our Lady of the Valley, and El Centro de Amistad. Thank you for entering into the spirit of the holidays and bringing joy to so many!
