Crespi Fine Art Festival Winners Celebrated

Crespi Carmelite High School is proud to announce the winners of this year’s Art Competition, recognizing the creativity, talent, and hard work of our student artists.

In Exploring Visual Art, Jonah Kadin ’28 earned recognition for his piece, Avocado in a Sea of Purple. In Advanced Art, Carlo Carranza ’28 was honored for Stranger in an Even Stranger Time. In AP Art, two students were selected as winners: Dylan Park ’26 for Breaking Free and Logan Barron ’26 for Silence Beneath the Lilies.

Each of these students demonstrated impressive artistic vision and dedication to their craft. Their work reflects the creativity and self-expression that continue to thrive within Crespi’s visual arts program.

Please join us in congratulating Jonah, Carlo, Dylan, and Logan on this outstanding achievement. Crespi also extends its appreciation to all students who participated in this year’s competition, as well as the faculty, staff, and community members who supported and celebrated their work.

Crespi Fine Art Festival Showcases Student Creativity

Crespi Carmelite High School celebrated the creativity, talent, and hard work of our student artists at the Crespi Fine Art Festival on April 27. The event transformed the Commons into a vibrant gallery space, featuring a wide variety of student artwork across multiple media, styles, and themes.

Guests had the opportunity to view an impressive collection of drawings, paintings, mixed-media pieces, and three-dimensional works created by Crespi students throughout the school year. From bold color studies and expressive portraits to detailed illustrations, sculptural pieces, and large-scale creative projects, the festival highlighted the depth of artistic exploration taking place in Crespi’s Fine Arts program.

The exhibition also provided students with the meaningful opportunity to share their work with classmates, families, faculty, and the greater Crespi community. Each piece reflected not only technical skill and imagination, but also the personal voice and perspective of the student artist.

Crespi E-Waste Drive Welcomes Strong Community Participation

Crespi Carmelite High School’s E-Waste Drive was met with an outstanding response from the broader community, with more than 100 vehicles coming through the Faculty Parking Lot to drop off electronic waste for recycling.

The event welcomed a wide range of participants, including alumni parents, current students, Crespi faculty and staff, parish representatives, and local community members. Many attendees learned about the drive-through neighborhood flyer distribution, while others participated after seeing the event promoted on social media.

The success of the E-Waste Drive reflects the generosity and engagement of the Crespi community and its supporters. In addition to encouraging the responsible disposal of electronic waste, the event served as a meaningful fundraising opportunity for the school and a reminder of what can be accomplished through collective participation.

Crespi is sincerely grateful to everyone who contributed to the success of the event — including those who donated items, volunteered their time, helped promote the drive, and supported the effort in any way. The school extends its heartfelt thanks to all who participated and helped make the day such a success.

Crespi Men Serve and Lead at Archdiocese Youth Day 2026

Over 8,000 teenagers gathered at the Anaheim Convention Center on Thursday, February 19 for the Archdiocese’s Youth Day—the opening day of the annual Religious Education Congress. With this year’s theme, “Real Love Carries the Cross,” inspired by the daily reading, the day invited young people from across Southern California to encounter Christ through prayer, worship, and community.

Crespi was proud to be represented not only in attendance, but in leadership and service. Several Crespi students were part of the coordinating team that helped plan and support the event’s programming and logistics. Their behind-the-scenes work contributed to a Youth Day experience that was welcoming, well-organized, and meaningful for thousands of participants.

Crespi’s presence was especially visible during the Liturgy. Sixteen Crespi Men served in key roles, assisting as acolytes, collection announcers, and usher captains/flooring guides to help create a reverent and seamless environment for worship. An additional 16 Crespi students attended as participants, joining the broader Youth Day community—along with many other Crespi families and students who participated through their home parishes.

Youth Day 2026 was a joyful reminder of what it means to be young in faith: to show up, to serve, to listen, and to walk together. We are grateful for the Crespi Men who offered their time, leadership, and hearts in service to the Church—and for the strong witness of brotherhood they brought to this powerful day of faith, fellowship, and fun.

Curiosity on Display: Highlights from the 2026 Crespi STEM Expo

The 2026 Crespi STEM Expo was a campus-wide celebration of student curiosity and hands-on learning, with presentations spread across many rooms and supported by our Science Department teachers and AP student moderators. Visitors moved room-to-room to hear students explain their methods, defend their results, and demonstrate how classroom learning translates into real investigation—from CP Biology and CP Chemistry to Physiology, Honors courses, Zoology, and Physics.

A major throughline this year was sustainability and environmental impact. Our CP Chemistry students completed a themed project, “How Effective Is Our School at Sorting Waste Correctly?” by examining campus trash (black), recycling (blue), and compost (green) bins to evaluate how well we’re sorting waste in real life. Alongside that theme, many students explored composting and decomposition through creative, practical experiments—comparing Crespi compost to commercial compost, testing compost speed, and tracking decomposition across a variety of materials and foods (from fruits and bread to “How long do chicken nuggets last?”).

The Expo also highlighted the range of STEM thinking happening across disciplines: physiology teams explored topics like sleep impact, performance, emotions, stress/recovery, and even beverage comparisons, while physics students tackled engineering and motion challenges like egg drop, roller coasters, pendulums, parachute descent velocity, air resistance, electromagnetism, terminal velocity, and the relationship between incline angle and velocity. Zoology students contributed observational data collection to determine the biodiversity of Los Angeles—another strong reminder that science is as much about noticing the world carefully as it is about testing it. Thank you to every student presenter, faculty facilitator, and AP moderator who helped make the 2026 Crespi STEM Expo a proud showcase of learning in action.

Spring Blood Drive Surpasses Goal, Collects 36 Units

Crespi Carmelite High School’s Spring Blood Drive was a powerful reminder of what it means to serve others as a community. Hosted in the Crespi Gym from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., the drive welcomed student donors ages 16 and older (with permission slips for 16-year-olds), along with parents and friends of Crespi, all coming together for one shared purpose: saving lives.

Thanks to the generosity of our donors and the patience and flexibility shown throughout the day, we collected 36 units of blood, surpassing our goal of 35 units. Each donation represents the potential to impact someone in need, and the commitment shown by our community made a real difference.

We extend our sincere gratitude to every donor who stepped forward, and to the student and adult volunteers who helped the drive run smoothly. Thank you for living out Crespi’s spirit of brotherhood and service in a tangible way. Celt Pride!

“Regatta Cheese” Claims Victory at the 5th Annual Crespi Regatta

St. John Eudes’ “Regatta Cheese” Claims Victory at the 5th Annual Crespi Regatta—Four Years Running

After an exciting day of racing that featured 10 preliminary heats, the competition narrowed as the top three teams from each heat advanced to the semi-finals. The energy only grew as the remaining teams battled it out across three semi-final heats, with the fastest three boats from each heat earning a coveted spot in the championship round.

The final heat brought together nine outstanding teams, each showcasing unique design strategies and impressive performance. But in the end, one team once again rose to the top.

A Four-Year Dynasty: “Regatta Cheese” Dominates Again

Representing St. John Eudes School, the team known as “Regatta Cheese” claimed first place—marking their fourth consecutive Regatta championship. Their consistent excellence, innovative engineering, and steady teamwork have made them a standout presence in the Crespi Regatta year after year.

Their winning design navigated the course with both speed and stability, earning enthusiastic cheers from the crowd and solidifying their legacy as one of the most successful teams in Regatta history.

A Celebration of STEM, Creativity, and Community

The Crespi Regatta continues to grow each year, offering middle-school students a dynamic hands-on experience that blends engineering design with friendly competition. From the morning check-in to the final awards ceremony, the event showcased the imagination and skill of young scholars from across the San Fernando Valley.

Congratulations to “Regatta Cheese” and to all students, teachers, and families who participated in this year’s Regatta. Crespi looks forward to welcoming everyone back next fall for another exciting year of innovation, collaboration, and spirited racing.

ESOL Students Embark on Adventure to Santa Cruz Island

Thirteen members of the ESOL program recently spent two days exploring the natural beauty and ecological wonders of Santa Cruz Island. The group departed from Ventura Harbor on Sunday morning, reaching Channel Islands National Park in just under an hour and a half. During the ferry crossing, students were treated to remarkable wildlife sightings, including whales, sea lions, and a large pod of dolphins numbering in the thousands.

Upon arrival, the group established camp and enjoyed lunch before heading to Scorpion Cove for an afternoon of snorkeling in the kelp forest. Later that day, participants embarked on a five-mile hike along the scenic cliffs overlooking Potato Harbor and Cavern Point, taking in breathtaking views of the Pacific coastline.

On the following morning, the team broke down camp and returned to the harbor to meet their kayaking guides. Over the course of a three-and-a-half-hour tour, students explored a series of sea caves and learned about the kelp forest ecosystem, as well as the effects of climate change on marine habitats. The excursion concluded with a traditional stop at In-N-Out, a favorite way to celebrate the completion of the Channel Islands Adventure.

The ESOL program has several additional excursions planned for the 2025–2026 Ocean Year, culminating in a capstone expedition to Belize during Easter Break.
