Carmelite Message from the Office of the President |
Crespi Carmelite High School has been a constant presence of Carmelite Education in the San Fernando Valley since 1959. We remain the only all boys school in the valley. We teach the young men who attend our school the importance of the whole human person, his relationship to his God and the entire human family. We call on the Crespi Man to be a brother to all he encounters; we ask him to be a steward to the world he lives in, as well as, a custodian of the future; to live his life with reflection of the gifts, and tribulations, he will encounter. These are attributes that encompass the Carmelite charism: Fraternity, Service, and Contemplation.
Crespi Carmelite High School enters an era of renewal and growth as we prepare for our 50th Jubilee Year in 2009. With the continuing support of alumni, alumni parents, current families, and friends we have built a Fine Arts Building, housing an art studio, music studio, and media center, as well as, a collegiate-style student commons and cafeteria, campus chapel, counseling center and campus ministry, faculty and conference rooms. This $7.7 million project, the first major addition to the campus since 1968, will help our students compete at the highest academic levels for entrance to the nations leading universities and colleges. With an additional $2 million campaign for the improvement of our athletic facilities, we will, this year, host our athletes on the finest synthetic playing field and track, as they continue to grow in body and spirit with the healthy pursuits of competition and sportsmanship.
Following our successful WASC evaluation in 2006, we have recently completed a five year Strategic Plan enabling Crespi Carmelite to continue to bring the very best to our students, their families, and the community, shaping our future for the next 50 years. The plan includes the establishment of transportation services to our out-lying valleys and west-side communities, thus enabling parents the opportunity to eliminate commuting from their decision in regards to their son’s education.
Crespi Carmelite High School is owned and operated by the Province of the Most Pure Heart of Mary, headquartered in Darien, Illinois. As a Carmelite Community we dedicate ourselves to the examples of obedience shown to us by the Blessed Mother, Our Lady of Mount Carmel; like the Prophet Elijah, we thirst for God’s presence in our lives.
We invite you to join us on our journey up Mount Carmel, as we strive to impart on the young men who enter our halls, the ‘loving knowing’ of God’s grace in themselves, and inthose they meet along the way.
May Our Lady of Mt. Carmel continue to protect and guide you.
Sincerely,
Rev. Thomas Schrader, O. Carm.

| Annual Benefit Events |
The Department of Institutional Advancement holds several events during the course of the year to raise funds need for the various programs offered by Crespi Carmelite High School.
We invite all parents to become involved in the support of these events by participating on the committees and by attending. We consider these events an opportunity to not only support our school, but to support each other in the forging of lifelong friendships. As part of the Crespi Family, these events are not just Fund Raisers, they are Fun Raisers!
**For more details on this years events, please follow the links.
The Mother’s Tea**
This annual event is held in September. The President and Principal welcome back our mothers and friends, especially our new mothers, for a new school year with the introduction of the Parents Association President and her Board and an overview of the coming year. The afternoon consists of a small luncheon and an afternoon of shopping at the many area vendors who support Carmelite Education. This is also an opportunity for our mothers to sign up for the many opportunities to volunteer over the school year. The event is held in the Alumni Memorial Gym. Invitations are sent out in August. Proceeds from this event sponsor various activities during the year.
The Annual Scholarship Luncheon**
This yearly event is held to thank our generous sponsors for their support of students who are the recipients of scholarships*. The sponsors include Foundations, Friends of Crespi, and Alumni who have provided full or partial scholarships for worthy students. The students join their sponsors in the school library and learn the importance of philanthropically giving. The afternoon includes the students taking their sponsors on a tour of the campus and facilities.
*See the Parent/Student Handbook for details on scholarships available at Crespi Carmelite High School.
The All Alumni BBQ**
This yearly alumni event is a great way to get together with friends from the past! All are invited to a great BBQ sponsored by Alumni Family owned Tresierras Markets prior to a home football game in October. Enjoy a great bbq as you listen to the tunes from Alumni band The Class of ’67. After the game join your fellow Celts for the “5th Quarter.” For more information check the Alumni pages. This event is a FUN Raiser!
The Mother’s Christmas Luncheon **
Start the Holidays out by celebrating this annual event of Christmas cheer! Enjoy a day of shopping, dining and visiting at a nearby hotel with Crespi Moms, grandmothers, and friends. This event is one of our major fund raisers and a perfect way to begin the holiday season as you pick out gifts from our numerous vendors. Don’t forget to stop by Santa’s Kitchen for delectable holiday treats donated by Crespi Moms and then step into the dining room for a spectacular Holiday Celebration of lunch, a fashion show and prizes and raffles. This is one event that you won’t want to miss. This event is held the first Saturday of December
Annual Scholarship Golf Classic**
Join fellow alumni, alumni parents and current parents and students for a great day of golf at one of our local golf courses. The day begins with a continental breakfast, putting contest, 18 holes, followed by cocktails, dinner and awards. This fun filled day is a major sponsor of our scholarship program. The scholarship program provides funds for those students who desire a Carmelite education, but who would otherwise be unable to attain one. Support of this event insures that young men have the opportunity to become Crespi Men.
C.A.P.E.R. (Crespi’s Auction for the Preservation of Educational Rewards)**
This is the event of the year! Join us in April at a luxurious venue for this major fundraiser supporting our financial aid programs. Each year the C.A.P.E.R. committee chooses a theme and the evening is a fun-filled party beginning with cocktails, silent auction tables of wonderful items donated by friends and local businesses. Enjoy a gourmet dinner and Live Auction followed by entertainment of the finest caliber. Proceeds from this event go directly to our financial aid program.
Major Donor Reception**
In appreciation for those who have been generous in their support of Crespi Carmelite High School and Carmelite education, we host a special reception to show our appreciation in June.
All Alumni Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony**
Each June the Department of Alumni Relations and the Alumni Board vote on those Celts who have left their mark of excellence on the school and its history. These Celts are chosen for their accomplishments on the field of sports, their examples of being a Crespi Man, and a spiritual example in the world we live in.

| Annual Giving |
The Crespi Man Fund directly supports the immediate academic, spiritual and athletic needs of our students on a daily basis. The cost of these needs exceeds the annual tuition per student creating a gap that can only be closed with the support of our alumni, alumni parents and current parents. Your gift funds improvement and upgrades of the classrooms, labs and program materials. We can not accomplish all that is needed without the help and support of our Crespi family and friends.
Your generosity does make a difference in the lives of the young men who attend Crespi Carmelite High School.
Your tax-deductible gift gives us the opportunity to ensure that the very best in academics, spirituality and athletics is attained. With state-of-the-art equipment and materials we are able to meet the requirements of the top Universities and Colleges in the country. Our graduates are prepared for entrance at any of these institutions upon their completion of the four year academic program at Crespi Carmelite High School.
As a non-profit organization all gifts to Crespi Carmelite High School are tax-deductible as provided by law. We are 501 (c) 3 Institution. Your gifts may be made in the form of cash, check, credit card, and/or stock transfers. Your employer may be a matching gift contributor. If they are, send in the form along with your gift and we will do the rest.
In this way your $500 contribution becomes $1000.
We conduct our Annual Appeal twice during the year. We include our ‘wish list’ so that you are aware of the materials that your gift will be providing for any particular year. This is followed by our Phon-a-thon. Our students will be calling on our Crespi family and friends to ask for their help. Your gift may be made in the form of a pledge, payable over time. In this way you are able to stretch your giving with out having a great impact on your other obligations.

| Foundations |
Crespi Carmelite High School is proud to be in partnership with foundations whose mission is to support secondary education. With the support of private foundations Crespi Carmelite High School has been able to provide financial assistance for 22% of our student body. These funds are used to help defray the cost of tuition for those families who other wise would be unable to seek a private Catholic education for their sons. We feel that it is our mission to provide this advantage to as many students as we possibly can. We rely on the generosity of the Foundations to ensure the education of so many students.
Foundations not only help with the support of tuition for our students, they help fund many important programs that benefit our teaching efforts, programs such as the Bridge Program, the Academic Game Plan, and Counseling programs. These programs help promising students from families in need to realize their full potential, to become “Crespi Men,” and to go on to fruitful participation in society.
Our partnership with these foundations has also been generous in their support of our capital campaign, Building for the Crespi Man. With the added support of foundations we have been able to realize our dreams of providing the space needed for a comprehensive Fine Arts and Media Center due to open in the fall of 2008. The addition of this center to our campus will ensure the very best advantages to our student body for generations to come. Top Of Page |
