B (80-89) = 3 B (80-89) = 4

All Students - receiving a GPA of 3.0 or above are placed on the Honor Roll; 3.5 or higher on the Dean’s Honor Roll; 4.0 or higher on the Principal’s Honor Roll. Students can receive recognition from the California Scholastic Federation (CSF) and the National Honor Society (NHS). A student is put on academic probation and becomes ineligible for extracurricular activities/athletics if his GPA falls below 2.0. GPA is cumulative, computed each semester on the basis of the entire class. Plus (+) and minus (-) marks are indicated on the transcript but are not weighted when computing the GPA.

Since admission to Crespi is highly competitive, Crespi’s students do not represent a wide academic cross section of the community. Consequently, Crespi Carmelite High School, which has a comparatively small graduating class, does not calculate individual class rank.

Academic Honor Societies

California Scholarship Federation (CSF) - Chapter 864sc
General Information
The California Scholarship Federation is a statewide organization formed in 1921 by Mr. Charles F. Seymour as a means of honoring outstanding high school students.  Students sign up after every semester to report their academic record for eligibility requirements.

Members must accumulate at least 10 points from the approved CSF List.  A grade of A=3 CSF points, and B=1 CSF point.  One additional point shall be granted for a grade of A or B in an AP, or Honors course, up to a maximum of two such points per semester.  A grade of D or F in any course, even one you cannot use to qualify, disqualifies your from membership for the semester.

Gold Seal Bearers (Life Members)
Students who are members for 4 or more semesters receive a Gold Seal on their diplomas at graduation and their transcript will indicate their seal bearer status.  Life Members also have an opportunity to apply for Seymour Memorial Awards

National Honor Society (NHS)
General Information
In 1921, the National Honor Society was established. Many local honor societies existed, but there wasn't a nationwide organization until NHS was founded. It started in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and grew to more than 1,000 chapters by 1930. Four main purposes have guided chapters of NHS from the beginning: To create enthusiasm for scholarship, to stimulate a desire to render service, to promote leadership, and to develop character in the students of secondary schools.

National English Honor Society (NEHS)
General Information
In 2004 Sigma Tau Delta founded the National English Society as a means to reach out to high school students interested in pursuing college-level English majors.  The societies’ goals are to encourage students to develop their abilities in various English fields; to use their talents; and to recognize on a national level those who, on the basis of academic grades and performance, merit special note for past and current accomplishments.

Junior Statesman of America (JSA)
General Information
The Junior State of America was created for students who are interested in politics and government, foreign affairs, the law, and education.  Since its inception in 1934, more than 300,000 student members have become active, informed citizens through the Junior State.
